New U-M research on alcohol abuse

Researchers from the Substance Abuse Program in the Department of Psychiatry¬† will be collaborating on a new study, “Early Intervention to Reduce Alcohol Misuse and Abuse in the Ohio Army National Guard.” This is a two-arm randomized controlled trial of an alcohol brief intervention combined with text messages, as compared to usual care. The U-M team will take the lead on the science aspect of the study. The Principal Investigator is Joe Calabrese, Ph.D., from Case University School of Medicine. John Wryobeck, Ph.D., from the University of Toledo School of Medicine, will also partner with Dr. Calabrese and the U-M team.
