PBS segment focuses on surviving cancer, features Depression Center expert

Depression Center Associate Director Michelle Riba, M.D., M.S, is featured on the PBS series “A Wider World” in an episode airing Tuesday, December 13 at 5:30pm.

“A Wider World” is devoted to sharing the stories of individuals who have overcome various obstacles, delivering information designed to improve the lives of those who face challenges. This week, part of each show will be devoted to those who have faced or are facing a specific challenge: cancer.

Dr. Riba is the founding director of the PsychOncology Program, a collaboration between the U-M Comprehensive Depression Center and Comprehensive Cancer Center to treat cancer patients who also suffer from depression. There she leads a multidisciplinary group of clinicians who care for the emotional needs of cancer patients and their families, including physicians, nurses, social workers, art therapists, child life specialists and psychologists.
